Our mind is made up up two principal parts, the conscious and the subconscious. Our conscious mind (the part that controls our personality and keeps us physically aware) is believed to represent only about 10% of our brainpower.

The Conscious Mind

We use this part of our mind in daily activity as we shift our attention from one thing to another. Our conscious mind has a short-term memory only.

Conscious thinking will protect us from danger by judging and considering information it receives from the subconscious mind.

The Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind conducts the majority of our brain functions and is believed to use about 90% of our brainpower.

It controls our emotions, feelings, behaviour, survival instinct and potential. It keeps our heart beating, our lungs inflating; it controls every muscle, nerve and ligament. It is doing an excellent job right now or you would not be reading this!

The Mind and Hypnotism

Hypnotism allows communication with the subconscious mind. Using hypnotherapy, the subconscious mind can be reached and communicated with to stop or change any negative reactions, beliefs or ideas. This is why Hypnosis can be such an effective and powerful therapy. A trained hypnotherapist can use this communication to help us deal with problems.
